The Aare George

The impressive Aare George is in the Haslithal, a large valley in the central alps, stretches from the Grimsel Pass to the Lake of Bring. Over thousands of years, the Aare River eroded a path through this rock formation resulting in a George which is 1’400 metres long and up to 200 metres deep. The Path through the Aare George is an easy walk and is mostly between 1 – 2 metres wide (www.aareschlucht.ch) http://aareschlucht.ch and http://www.grimselwelt.ch

Hiking time 45 minutes

The Meiringer-Innertkirchen-Bahn will take you there – either alight at Aareschlucht West or Ost
